Music Moods

There are few albums that I listen to and instantly fall in love with and would forever be ok listening to them.

However, after listening to Ed Sheeran’s new album, Divide, I’m sold.

Literally.  Continue reading

Harry Potter Again

So lets all talk about the elephant in the room. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Book 8.

A play script.

A disaster.

Now I know, calm down, I’m sure many people absolutely loved this book and for them, congratulations, I’m so happy for you!

But for me it was unfortunately one of those books that I read and wished I hadn’t. I know the characters had to grow up and move on with their lives, but to change the direct character traits that made the series so incredible was horrific to read!

Cats or Dogs?

Welcome back everyone!

So it’s time to make it a little bit more personal this week, I loved seeing so much support and response on my blog last week so I thought I would share a bit about me.

I have 2 dogs, both female, both mad. Bella is a 2 year old labrador and Sky is a 3 year old border collie. Bella fits into the typical labrador stereotype, fearlessly loyal and loving but harmlessly dumb and clumsy. Sky fits into the border collie stereotype of incredibly smart, quick, clever and way way too emotionally sensitive for a dog! However, she definitely doesn’t have the looks of a typical border collie (we think she may have some Blue Merle mixed in with her genes!), even though her mum and “dad” are pure border collies.

Now being in a family that always had dogs around the house, I feel like I’m almost in tune with my dogs and their own emotions and needs, just like they are with me. If someone were to lock me in a room full of dogs I’d be completely at ease and not feel stressed at all, it’s a completely different kettle of fish when it comes to cats though.

Cats I feel have that innate ability to conceal their emotions and leave you guessing how they are feeling about you. Multiple times I’ve tried playing with my boyfriends cats and received a clawed hand instead of the affection that I was hoping for. In saying this I have also had dangerously close calls with dogs (none with my own ones) and lovely moments with cats.

The question thats been on my mind this week is what defines a cat person or a dog person? Or further more an animal person in general?

I mean thinking about it logically we let related descendants of wolves and big cats into our homes, near children, near food, everything. Our little furry friends nowadays can have their own social-media pages, yoga classes, pampering days and even go into space!

To select the right type of breed for you a person must consider their own circumstances, can they provide enough exercise to keep the animal healthy? Enough food? Enough time and love? When you think about it we do all this work and for what? A wagging tail when you come home? Cats and dogs alike provide love, care and an awful lot of work that must be done. So when asking what defines a cat or dog person I think the answer will be different for every circumstance  because every animal is different and what you must give to that animal will change depending on this. I know that when I come home I can have a cuddle with Bella but not Sky because she won’t go near me if I smell of another animal! I know that near their feeding time don’t even attempt to play with Bella because she’ll be too focused on drooling on her dinner bowl! All these quirks and characteristics that, to be honest, can be related back to human behaviour pretty easily, are what makes a cat or dog person.

No matter what kind of a person you are, cats or dogs, the fact is these animals have, through years and years of evolving, become best friends, shoulders to cry on, wake up calls, helpers, couch ruiners and mess makers that I wouldn’t be the same without. I don’t think you mould the animal to your definitive lifestyle or characteristics, I think your beloved four legged companions mould your lifestyle around itself.

Now I want your opinion, are you a cat or dog person? What defines that? Let me know in the comments!

Also any tips on how to get a cat to like me?!
